..honestly they are a little gross, haha. The backing is stained, tho it does appear to just be from the dye, and they do have a funky (maybe sulfur type) smell and they’re a little rough around the edges- literally- bits of loose dangling leather hanging around the edges. Nothing my pruning sheers won’t straighten right out tho. They are very cool looking, right down a little boys alley, and will look pretty neat in our grandsons jungle themed “bedroom at Chief & Gigi’s” …in progress.I’ve got them hanging outside now, airing out, as per other reviews, to hopefully freshen up the smell. They are actual wool pelts, that have been wrapped up tightly in plastic for who knows how long, so don’t be expecting them to smell like acrylic!! Being an experienced wool lover, the next plan of attack is a good brushing with scented baby powder and a good whacking with a rug paddle.. and lots of good SHAKES. Not only to clean them, freshen them up, and make them fluffy… but the smell of baby powder is much nicer! (You can also use cornstarch if you don’t like baby powder but NEVER wet wool rugs unless you absolutely have to, NEVER use soap with phosphates if you do have to wet them and NEVER add heat! Air dry, cool water! The rule of thumb is to treat them like a living sheep and let the wool mostly take care of itself! Brushing is the best way to clean wool rugs that don’t have wet stains!)The dye job looks nice, pretty realistic, and the wool is low pile and very soft. I bought the tiger and the leopard and combined the photo’s since they’re the same thing/size, just with different patterns. The colors are nice, and I think they’ll be really cute on the hardwood floor by the twin sized beds. Not sure I’d put them ON the bed, honestly.. we’ll see how that goes once I’ve had a chance to clean them up. I’m not regretting my purchase at all, and I’d definitely buy them again! Just being honest about what you should expect! They’re not made of man made materials, and they didn’t cost $300 apiece, so keep your expectations real and plan on doing a few days prep work if you’re particular about such things.Oh one more thing, if you’re shopping these rugs, pay attention to the sizes. These ones are quite a bit larger than the similar ones that are a little bit cheaper! These ones take up most of a twin sized bed, the others are nearly a foot smaller than these in length! Otherwise the reviews were about sixes on both (leather is a bit rough and they come with a smell when freshly opened- otherwise, nice and a good buy!)Great over my leather couchBeautiful rug that is not only eye catching but super soft.
